dialogue: why does it matter?
Every day we come in to work and talk. That talk is what creates the organisation we come in to every day. How might we talk together so that we love to come to work?
Conversations form the fabric of our working lives. For good or ill, we create the work we do through talk. Organisational structures come and go, and the ways people work together may follow the structure, but more often they do not. Conversation can capture the passion and humanity that make great organisations flourish and grow, or it can destroy our spirit and diminish our activity.
The principles of dialogue are a powerful guide for understanding and enlivening the way we speak together. The practice of dialogue can present a new way of making sense of our working experience and clearing the path for new learning to emerge.
